Break Away

So you cross the line you never thought was coming...a personal deal-breaker was permitted, and now you have reality to deal with. Depending on how long you've carried the opinion you have, it'll be varying stages of embarrassment or annoying confusion that you're reconciling yourself to. But honest assessment from an open mind will put you back on proper track.
Everyone is different, obviously, with non-identical tolerances, reactions, and commitment to themselves, making a broad spectrum to gauge from.
Not knowing a person specifically can be a reason for the alternate outcome you find. All it takes is one person causing a success to show you where you judged in error. Feel bad that you expected all people to behave or believe the same, but don't freak out too much that you gave yourself less of a fair chance and weren't open to remembering those facts. Life has made varied levels of strength of self, so expect finding some people to ride with these behaviors or attitudes, and actions, a little more deviated from your original opinion. Getting the full range of needed info and judging accordingly does not make you a hypocrite, it's foolish to make opinions without all relevant data, especially when it's not personal experience that's driving your beliefs. These can make or break an experience, and that should be a good start to moving through life more accurately, and missing less than you were headed towards. Consider that some of these controversial issues were little more than conspiracy-esque fodder for them. Things like substance use, or sex, have been misreputed and scapegoated for way too long. But in a time where younger generations are being misled by older ones who sold out believing it was best, it causes a worse and lesser way of living or existing, and their faults and flaws don't have to be ours. Give a legitimately open chance when judging, and only when you truly have all the facts. A bit more work and concentrated effort is all that it takes to keep a straight and balanced guide through life.
